EIR Lesson 4: Virtual Youths Meeting and Networking on Second Life

Today is a public holiday!!! Hence we are having e-learning lesson today. One of the best things about this virtual experience is that we are able to make friends easily and we won't have to be shy about it as we are not talking face to face. We are also able to make friends with people all around the world. When making new friends on Second life there isn't a need to observe any special mannerisms or behaviors, all you need to do is just walk up and say hi and this is all you need to do to make friends. Sometimes people would even walk up to you to make friends.

When i was on Second Life i manage to ask a non-PolyU student Lodic about what are the items he would buy and i was pretty surprise as he told me that he would buy baby clothes for his kid. Was pretty shock when the student i talking to is a parent already. However back to topic, he also told me that he would be sensitive towards the pricing and would compare the price with other online shops. And one of the most popular online shops would be www.taobo.com, it is popular as this website sells all kinds of item and it is also one of the main online shops that people would visit in Hongkong. I even manage to get hold of his email address so we can still contact each other.

I learn that there are many things we can learn from people in other country in this e-learning experience. Because people from other country have different culture from us and hence we can learn a lot about them.

One of the most challenging experience i had is trying to communicate with my friend in Second Life as there are many other conversation going on. Hence it would take me awhile to find what my friend was saying. Here are some pictures i took:
